Psalm 101

What kind of life are you living right now? would it please the Lord?

... Read moreI recently spent some quiet time with my Bible open to Psalm 101, and it truly resonated with me. You know how sometimes a scripture just jumps out and makes you ponder your whole life? That's exactly what happened! I was highlighting verses and adding my own notes, asking myself, 'Am I living a life that would please the Lord?' It's such a fundamental question, isn't it? Psalm 101 is often called a 'Psalm of David,' and it’s essentially a commitment to righteous living, especially for those in leadership, but it applies to all of us. David, as the psalmist here, is laying out his personal vow to walk with integrity. It's not just about outward actions, but the intentions of the heart. For me, connecting with this chapter through #biblejournaling has been incredibly enriching. I love seeing my open Bible page filled with thoughts about how to apply ancient wisdom to my modern life. One of the key takeaways for me from my notes on Psalm 101 was the call to live 'careful and wise.' This isn't about being overly cautious or fearful, but about intentional living. It's about discerning what honors God in every decision, big or small. I found myself jotting down phrases like 'Speak no evil, Hear no evil, See no evil' as a personal challenge. It's so easy in our daily lives to slip into gossip or consume content that doesn't build us up. This psalm is a powerful reminder to guard our eyes, ears, and mouths. Another profound point that came through in my reflections, especially when I looked at how Psalm 101 connects with the neighboring Psalm 102 (which often describes a prayer in distress), is the importance of our company. The Bible notes on my page reminded me of the advice to 'find friends who also want to please the Lord.' This really struck a chord. Who we surround ourselves with profoundly impacts our spiritual walk. Do my friends encourage me towards godliness, or do they pull me away? It's a tough but necessary question to ask. Delving into specific verses, Psalm 101:7 really stands out: 'No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes.' This verse is a stern warning against dishonesty and slander. It emphasizes the absolute necessity of truthfulness and integrity in our personal and public lives. When I reflect on this, it makes me think about how even small untruths can erode trust and distance us from God's ideal. It’s a call to transparency and authenticity. For anyone wondering what a 'psalmist' is in the Bible, it's essentially someone who writes psalms – sacred songs or poems. David is the most famous psalmist, but other individuals also contributed to the Book of Psalms. These psalms cover a vast range of human emotions and experiences, from praise and thanksgiving (like Psalm 100) to lament and confession. They're a treasure trove for personal reflection and worship. My hope in sharing these thoughts on Psalm 101 is to encourage you to open your own Bible and spend some time with it. Whether you highlight verses, write notes in the margins, or simply meditate on its words, there's so much wisdom to uncover. Let's all strive to live lives that truly please the Lord, guided by His Word.

Protein 101! How much protein should I eat?
Did you know that there is such thing as eating too much protein? Eating more than your body needs is not doing you any good, it is actually just being stored in your gut! The more protein you consume in one sitting, the longer it will take to digest. I recommend anywhere from 30-40g of protein
