Don’t be like Martha busy but still empty
Many of us can relate to the feeling of being overwhelmed despite staying busy all day. The story of Martha and Mary reminds us that while productivity is important, it shouldn’t come at the expense of our inner peace and spiritual health. Martha was busy with many tasks but felt empty inside because she was distracted from what truly mattered — spending time in quiet reflection and connection. From my own experience, I found that busyness often became an escape from facing deeper issues or emotions. I would fill my schedule to avoid uncomfortable thoughts or feelings. However, it wasn't until I embraced moments of stillness and prayer, much like Mary sitting at Jesus’s feet, that I began to feel whole again. This practice helped me detox my thoughts and realign my priorities away from just doing toward being. Incorporating spiritual habits such as Bible reading, prayer, and meditation can be a powerful way to cleanse your soul and grow inwardly. It’s not about adding more tasks but about creating intentional space to recharge your heart and mind. This inner growth can lead to a more meaningful and balanced life where actions are aligned with soul-wholeness rather than mere busyness. I encourage anyone feeling overwhelmed or empty to pause and evaluate where they spend their energy. Is it on endless distractions or nurturing the soul? By choosing to focus on spiritual rest and inner growth, you can find true fulfillment beyond the surface of being busy.
