Propaganda I’m not falling for this summer Pt. 2
Hbu- What are you NOT falling for this summer?
This summer, I've been really focusing on what I refuse to fall for, and honestly, it's been liberating. One major realization is the difference between hustle culture and burnout culture. While hustle culture often gets a bad rap, I’ve found that being productive and ambitious can be really fulfilling if balanced with the right amount of rest. The key is to listen to your body and take breaks before exhaustion hits — it’s amazing how much more creative and motivated you feel afterward. I also adopted a new approach to decision-making based on the idea that “yes or no is a full sentence.” This simple mindset helped me quit people-pleasing and stop overexplaining my choices, which has reduced so much stress. Saying no without guilt makes room for more meaningful activities and self-care. Speaking of self-care, sometimes the best routine is just getting out of bed, fueled by caffeine and dreams. It’s okay to keep things simple and recognize that doing your best is enough. Embracing this has helped me appreciate the little moments and not get overwhelmed by societal expectations. Lastly, acknowledging and naming my feelings before moving through them has made emotional challenges easier to handle. Instead of brushing things off with phrases like "it is what it is," I allow myself to feel fully, process, and then let go. This practice has enhanced my mental wellbeing immensely. If you’re looking to have a joyful, balanced summer, consider what you’re not willing to fall for — whether it’s burnout culture, incessant people-pleasing, or ignoring your emotional health. Prioritize rest, clear boundaries, and emotional honesty to really enjoy your season.
