I used to spend so much time trying to achieve perfect waves with heat tools, but honestly, my long, wavy hair would often end up looking frizzy or just not quite right. That all changed when I discovered the magic of bubble braids for heatless waves! It’s seriously become my favorite night-time routine hack, and I wanted to share why it works so well for me. Beyond just keeping my hair out of my face, which is a huge plus, especially on busy mornings, bubble braids are a fantastic protective style. They minimize tugging and breakage compared to tighter braids, and they give my hair such a beautiful, natural wave pattern without any heat damage. I've found that for my light brown hair, the subtle definition from multiple bubble braids really makes the color pop and adds a lovely texture. Here’s how I usually do it to get those effortless morning waves: Start with slightly damp hair: After washing, I let my hair air dry about 80-90%. It shouldn't be dripping wet, but a little dampness helps the waves set better. Sometimes, I'll spritz a little leave-in conditioner or a texturizing spray for extra hold and volume. Section your hair: I typically part my hair down the middle or slightly to the side. Then, I decide how many bubble braids I want. For super defined waves, I'll do four to six smaller braids (two or three on each side). For looser waves, two larger ones work great. Create the first bubble: Take a small section of hair near your face, just like you would for a regular braid start. Secure it with a small, clear elastic band. Don't pull it too tight! Form the bubbles: Move down about an inch or two from the first elastic, gather the hair, and add another elastic.
