I’m ready for adventure
I live in Iowa. Spring time in Iowa can be WEIRD. It can be incredibly nice out, rain, or….we can get snow. Or be even still, we can have that weather back to back to back.
Because of this, it can make it hard to get out and explore. I don’t mind going out in the rain. I love rain. But the snow? The snow. No thank you.
This year, my goal is to be outside more, no matter what. I need it, and the universe only knows my kids need it. We’ve been incredibly lucky so far this year with unseasonably nice weather.
I want to hike more trails, find hidden gems, take little road trips to parts of my own home state that I haven’t been to. I wanna learn how to forage and cook with local plants and herbs. And I want to learn how to do those things alongside my kids, so they can take those skills into their own adulthoods.
Stick around for the adventures. Let me know about your own adventures, no matter where you are. I love hearing about it all.

Springtime in Iowa offers a unique blend of weather that can change rapidly, presenting both challenges and opportunities for adventure. Whether you're navigating sudden rain showers or unexpected snow, embracing the outdoors with your family can be a rewarding experience. Try hiking in local parks such as Jester Park, where families can explore trails amidst diverse ecosystems. To enhance your outdoor adventures, learning foraging techniques can be both educational and fun for kids, teaching them about local flora while encouraging a connection to nature. Engaging in these activities not only helps children develop essential survival skills but also promotes a deeper appreciation for the environment. If you're looking for tips on family-friendly outdoor activities, consider creating a simple checklist of trails to hike, parks to visit, and plants to forage. Also, don’t forget to capture moments along the way—sharing your experiences can inspire others in their own outdoor journeys.
