1 Book that wasn’t for me 🫣
Listen I get it, this was a good book.. BUT there is nothing sexy about screwing your uncle or cousins.. blood related or not.. no cute, not demur, def not sexy!
When I picked up this book, I expected an intriguing story, but what really stood out was the controversial relationship between family members, which made it difficult for me to connect with the narrative. While some readers may appreciate bold storytelling, topics involving blood relatives crossing boundaries often evoke discomfort. From my experience, books that touch on taboo subjects need careful handling to avoid alienating the audience. The portrayal of familial intimacy in this case came across as neither romantic nor tasteful, which is a big turnoff for me personally. I believe a story can still be compelling without venturing into such sensitive territory that challenges readers’ moral comfort zones. That being said, I can understand why others may find value in complex character dynamics or appreciate the bravery of addressing taboo topics. Still, I recommend readers exercise discretion and consider their own sensitivities before diving into books containing themes of incest, even if presented fictionally. Being transparent about such content upfront would help set expectations better. Overall, this book reminded me how personal taste and boundaries deeply influence our reading enjoyment, and why open discussions about uncomfortable literary themes are important.
