... Read moreYou know that feeling when you stumble upon something amazing? That's exactly how I felt finding the new Bandai Gashapon Official Shop at my mall! It’s like stepping into a little slice of Japan, right here at Grapevine Mills. If you’re a fan of anime figures, capsule toys, or just love a fun surprise, Gashapon are seriously addictive! For those new to the craze, Gashapon are basically Japanese vending machine capsule toys. You put in your tokens, turn the crank, and out pops a mystery toy! What makes a Bandai Gashapon Official Shop so special, like the one I visited, is the sheer variety and quality. They often have exclusive series you won't find just anywhere. I saw machines for popular series like *Chainsaw Man*, *Dragon Ball Super*, *Yu Yu Hakusho*, and even That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime figures. The Kaiju No. 8 ones were super cool too! If you're wondering where to find these gems, dedicated Gashapon stores are popping up more often outside of Japan. While places like Akihabara in Tokyo are famous for them, you might be surprised to find a Bandai store closer to home, or even a smaller corner in an anime shop. I always recommend checking online or asking in local anime communities. As for the tokens, most official shops use their own token system. You usually buy them at a counter or a change machine, then feed them into your chosen Gashapon machine. Prices can vary, from 2 to 5 tokens per capsule, as I saw for the Chainsaw Man Chibi Masters (5 tokens) and Dragon Ball Super (3 tokens) machines. One of the best parts is collecting! If you're hunting for specific series like Chainsaw Man Gashapon or Naruto Gashapon (though I didn't see Naruto this time, they rotate often!), it's a good idea to check which series are currently out. Sometimes, you can even trade with other collectors if you get duplicates. I was so happy to get a Pochita from Chainsaw Man and that cute blue Rimuru from *Slime*! Kaiju No. 8 was also a great pull from my collection of empty capsules. While places like Miniso might have some cute blind box or capsule toy options, the sheer dedication to quality and variety at a Bandai Gashapon Official Shop is usually a step above for serious collectors. It's truly an experience! Overall, if you get a chance to visit a Bandai Gashapon Official Shop, or any Gashapon store, I highly recommend it. It's a fun, affordable way to get some awesome collectibles and experience a bit of Japanese pop culture. Happy gacha hunting!
