Do people still judge pad users?

This literally made my skin crawl.

So my friend texts me from a public bathroom like, WHILE she’s in the stall and tells me that the girl next to her just whispered, “She still wears pads?? That’s so gross.”

Like… huh??? Are we seriously still doing that in 2025?

Why are we acting like there’s a “right” way to bleed? Why are pads treated like the training wheels of periods?

Some people use pads because of trauma. Some because of PCOS or endo. Some just because they prefer it. And none of that should come with judgment.

I’ve used all of it: pads, tampons, cups. You know what the best one is? The one that makes your body feel safe.

This isn’t a competition. We’re all riding the same emotional rollercoaster once a month cravings, cramps, hormonal chaos. Why are we shaming anyone for what they choose to use?

If you’ve ever felt judged for how you manage your period, whether it’s pads, tampons, cups, or nothing at all, I see you. You’re not gross. You’re not behind. You’re just doing what works for your body.

Sound off in the comments, have you ever been judged for how you manage your period? Be real, no shame here.

... Read moreOkay, so we've talked about the absolutely ridiculous judgment people still face for using pads. It's infuriating, right? But beyond the shame, let's chat about why pads are such a fantastic and valid choice for so many of us, myself included! When I first started my period, pads were my go-to. They felt incredibly clean and gave me a sense of security that other products just didn't initially. And honestly, for many, they still offer that unbeatable comfort and peace of mind. Think about it: disposable pads for periods are super easy to use, especially for beginners or if you're dealing with a heavy flow day and want extra reassurance. They're also a lifesaver for overnight protection – no leaks, just sleep! For those with sensitive skin, or who experience discomfort with internal products, pads can be a much gentler option. I've had friends who use them exclusively due to conditions like PCOS or endometriosis because they simply feel better and don't add to existing discomfort. The OCR even mentioned that pads are clean, comfortable, and fine, and I couldn't agree more! It's about what works for your body, your flow, and your lifestyle. There's this weird idea floating around that pads are somehow less 'modern' or 'efficient' than other products, but that's just a myth we need to bust. Pads have evolved so much! There are ultra-thin options, wings for extra security, different absorbencies for every day of your cycle, and even organic cotton versions for those who prefer them. The convenience of simply changing a pad and disposing of it makes managing your period straightforward and stress-free for many. We're truly ending the 'period hierarchy' that suggests one product is superior to another. Whether you choose pads because of trauma, medical reasons, or simply because you find them most convenient and reliable, that choice is valid. Period. No one gets to dictate how you manage your period. Our bodies are all unique, and so are our needs. Let's normalize open conversations about all period products and support each other's choices without judgment. It’s about feeling safe, secure, and confident in your own skin, no matter what you're wearing. So, if pads make you feel fine and empowered, then they are absolutely the right choice for you! Don't let anyone make you feel ashamed for choosing what's best for *you*.

Oh boy what would they say if I told them I’m just free bleeding in period panties right now lmao. Everyone has different bodies and different flows. Women need to stop shaming other women for shit we can’t control

One time I had a tampon in for 10 minutes, I was at work, lying on the kitchen floor bc everything hurt. Especially my uterus. Went to the bathroom, took it out and had immediate relief. Not everyone is the same. If you’re like me and choose to solely wear pads, you’re completely normal. Some people see pads as a starter period produce but the reality is they’re made for everyone. There’s options for a reason. I will probably be using pads my whole life but I will never let anyone tell me it’s wrong or for kids
