... Read moreHey nail lovers! Since you enjoyed my absolute favorite summer nail sets, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into what makes summer manicures so much fun. Getting your nails done is one of my favorite ways to express my style, especially when the weather gets warm and bright.
When it comes to summer nail inspo, I always think about colors that pop and designs that feel fresh. Beyond the glowing pink dips and bold Tennessee Orange festival nails I shared, there's a whole world of possibilities!
Choosing Your Summer Color Palette:
For me, summer is all about vibrant hues. Think electric blues, sunny yellows, and lush greens. Of course, classic hot pink is always a winner, as you saw with my almond-shaped reflective glitter dip. Don't shy away from pastels either; soft lavenders, mints, and baby blues can be incredibly chic and refreshing. I’ve also been loving ombre designs lately, blending two or three complementary shades for a gradient effect that screams summer sunset.
Nail Shapes for Summer Fun:
I usually stick to almond-shaped nails because they look elegant and are practical for everyday. However, for a bolder statement, especially for events or festivals, I absolutely adore coffin-shaped nails. They provide a fantastic canvas for intricate designs like the cow print and orange accents I rocked for CCMF. Squoval and oval shapes are also fantastic for a classic, sophisticated summer look that's easy to maintain.
Finishes and Embellishments:
This is where you can really make your summer nails unique! Reflective glitter, like the one in my pink dip, is perfect for catching the light – imagine it sparkling by a campfire! Chrome finishes are another huge favorite of mine; they add such a luxurious, almost liquid metal effect. My pink base with white French tips got an amazing upgrade with a chrome topcoat, making a classic look feel totally modern. Don't forget about subtle details like tiny rhinestones, delicate gel designs (which I used for my orange mani), or even tiny fruit decals for a playful vibe. Matte finishes can also create a cool, sophisticated contrast to bright summer colors.
Making Your Summer Mani Last:
With all the swimming, sun, and outdoor activities, summer can be tough on nails. I always recommend a good quality top coat, whether it's a regular polish or a gel top coat if you're doing a DIY gel mani. For dip powder, ensuring proper application and sealing is key. Keeping your cuticles moisturized with cuticle oil is also super important for nail health and making your manicure look fresh longer. If you’re heading to a festival like Carolina Country Music Fest, definitely opt for gel or dip as they handle wear and tear much better than regular polish.
Whether you're going for a subtle pink with white French tips or a bold statement with cow print and orange, summer nails are all about having fun and expressing yourself. Don't be afraid to show your nail tech your wildest ideas – let your nails be your accessory this season!
