As someone with 13 piercings and growing I feel that I have to share my experience with the piercing community and how it’s treated me and others, there’s many positives to the community and it makes it so much easier to find jewlery and new piercing ideas constantly. But these are the three things I see the most that I hate:
1. PIERCING YOURSELF.
there’s been an increase in people persuading others to pierce themselves. for those that this works for and have properly trained themselves in how to pierce, i commend you. however, purchasing these piercing guns online and doing piercings yourself is extremely dangerous without some sort of background and isn’t something we should be influencing a younger audience to do. spending the money to get pierced by a professional is WORTH IT. all of my piercings have been done by a professional and i have never had a healing process longer than a week OR have had any implications with my piercings. please look into your local tattoo and piercings shops and find a piercing who deserves the business, not all of them are expensive! (the one near my house is 60-70 but the one 30 minutes away is 20!)
2. HATE.
i have experienced so much hate in my early days of getting pierced. when all i had was a nostril and two lobe piercings i was often told that i couldn’t consider myself a part of the community. having 1+ piercings makes you included in the community and we should hold up anyone who fits that criteria. the amount of piercings you have doesn’t effect how “cool” you are or how much you belong in the community. just enjoy your piercing journey and be the best version of yourself, and don’t hate on people who don’t know what a “snug” piercing is, help educate them.
3. PIERCINGS HURT.
it seems that anytime i see a piercing pain rating post they all say that they didn’t hurt or are under a 2/10 pain scale. piercings are a needle going through your skin, they hurt. yes, i’ve had piercings that have stopped hurting a few hours after and i’ve had piercings that have hurt for a week after. i’ve even had piercings that i would consider a 2/10 myself, but making people embarrassed for it to hurt a lot when they are pieced should not be happening 🤷🏻♀️

Building connections in the community often leads to discovering new trends and jewelry options, enhancing the overall experience of body art. Involvement in forums and online groups can further these connections, ensuring that everyone feels welcomed and accepted in their journey, no matter at what stage they are.
