Snacks I’d Bring On Every Summer Road Trip

Road trip snack runs just hit different during the summer 😭☀️

We stopped at Dollar Tree and grabbed a few snacks for the drive and honestly this combo ended up being so good. Everything was only $1.25 each 👀

🐟 Goldfish Crisps Sour Cream & Onion

This was actually my FIRST time trying the Goldfish Crisps and I was shocked at how good they were 😭 They’re super light, airy, crunchy, and packed with sour cream & onion flavor.

🍫 Butterfinger Minis

You honestly can’t go wrong with a classic Butterfinger 👀 Crunchy, peanut buttery, chocolatey, and dangerously easy to snack on because they’re mini sized.

🍭 Blow Pop Minis

These felt like a remix of one of my favorite childhood candies 😭 I loved getting multiple flavors in one box, especially the sour apple and blue razz.

This ended up being the perfect sweet + salty road trip snack combo without spending a lot of money ☀️

What snack are y’all grabbing first in the car? 👀

From my personal road trips, I’ve found that combining snacks like Goldfish Crisps with their light, airy crunch and sour cream & onion flavor, paired with Butterfinger Minis that offer the ultimate crunchy, peanut buttery delight, creates a satisfying balance between salty and sweet. The addition of Blow Pop Minis brings a nostalgic touch with flavors like sour apple and blue razz, making snack time more fun and varied. What I really appreciate about these snacks—especially when picked up at affordable stores like Dollar Tree—is the cost efficiency without sacrificing taste. Each item costing just around $1.25 means you can pack a variety of flavors without breaking the bank. I often stockpile a range of these treats before setting off so that no one gets bored during the drive. Another plus is the convenience of mini-sized snacks. They’re not only easy to share but also help control portion sizes, which prevents that dreaded post-snack sugar crash. Packing these items in resealable bags or containers also helps keep the car clean and ensures snacks stay fresh throughout the journey. Incorporating snacks that carry a combination of textures—crisp, airy, and chewy—makes the road trip feel special. Plus, having familiar favorites like Butterfinger bars mixed with reinvented classics like these Goldfish Crisps creates a sense of comfort and joy. For future trips, I also plan to add fresh fruit or nuts to keep the snack lineup even healthier and more balanced. If you’re preparing for a long drive this summer, I recommend trying this sweet and salty combination. It’s proven to keep energy up, satisfy cravings, and add a fun food variety to your travel memories. What’s great is that these options cater to both adults and kids, making them perfect for family road trips too.
