I hope I stressed this was a horror comic

2025/1/1 Edited to

... Read moreHey everyone! So many of you were asking about the making of my latest art piece, this glitchy horror comic, and I'm excited to share some insights into my process! When I set out to create this particular six-panel horror comic, my goal was to truly tap into that unsettling creepypasta vibe that gives you chills long after you've seen it. One of the biggest challenges, and ultimately the most rewarding part, was mastering the 'digital corruption' aesthetic. I wanted to move beyond traditional horror and introduce elements that felt truly broken and distorted, as if the comic itself was glitching out of reality. This involved a lot of experimentation with red and black imagery – stark contrasts that heighten the sense of dread. Using abstract shapes in the background, almost like static or corrupted data, really helped to convey that feeling of unease. It wasn't just about drawing scary figures; it was about making the entire visual experience disorienting. I also intentionally incorporated some Japanese text, not necessarily for its literal meaning, but for the exotic and mysterious aura it adds. In many creepypastas, foreign languages or symbols are used to add an extra layer of enigma and horror, suggesting something ancient or otherworldly that we can't quite comprehend. This was a deliberate choice to enhance the psychological aspect of the 'comic horror' genre. When creating a creepypasta comic, it’s all about building atmosphere. You don't always need jump scares; sometimes, the slow burn of psychological dread is far more effective. Think about how to use panel transitions to build suspense, or how to distort familiar elements to make them terrifying. For this piece, the initial panels show a character refusing a request, which sets up a conflict, but the real horror emerges as the visuals themselves start to decay and corrupt. It’s a descent into madness, visually represented. Many popular creepypasta stories often take a familiar concept and twist it into something dark. While my comic isn't directly related to 'mlp surprise creepypasta comic' or similar fandom-specific tales, the artistic approach is inspired by that same spirit of subversion and unsettling transformation. It's about taking the viewer into a space where reality feels unstable. What are your favorite elements in horror comics? Did the glitchy effects and abstract shapes in my piece contribute to the feeling of unease for you? I’m always learning and evolving my art, and experimenting with anatomy studies in a horror context has been a fascinating journey. Let me know what you think!
