Clothing I Regret BuyingðŸ˜
Three pieces I regret buying (and why!):
✨For Love & Lemons’ Baby’s Breath Dress: I was so excited to finally get my hands on this dress but it is wayyyy too short to wear out (I’m 5’7). I tried once but felt very uncomfortable with how short it is.
✨ Dr. Marten Mary Jane’s: I love the Mary Jane look but these are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn😠They will rip up your ankles! I was able to solve that problem by adding padding to the back but I also have wide feet, and they are not wide.
✨ This Aritzia Babydoll Dress (and babydoll dresses in general): Unfortuantely just aren’t very flattering on my body type and I never reach for them.
What clothing do you regret buying? 👀
Buying clothes is always a bit of a gamble, especially when it comes to trendy or statement pieces. From personal experience, I’ve learned that even highly praised items can turn out to be disappointing if they don’t work with your body type or lifestyle. For example, the For Love & Lemons Baby’s Breath dress looks stunning online, but for someone who is around 5’7", the length can be surprisingly short, making it uncomfortable for regular wear. If you’re taller, I recommend trying dresses on in-store or checking length measurements carefully. A possible workaround is pairing it with shorts or layering, but it may take away from the dress’s delicate look. As for shoes, while Mary Jane styles are charming, not all brands cater to wider feet or prioritize comfort. My experience with Dr. Martens Mary Jane shoes was challenging because they caused ankle irritation and felt too narrow. Adding padding helped but didn’t completely solve the issue. If you have wide feet, look out for brands that offer wider sizes or shoes with more flexibility. Breaking in sturdy shoes is essential but also know when to switch to more comfortable alternatives. Babydoll dresses from Aritzia and similar styles can be hit or miss depending on body shape. While they’re designed to be loose and flowy, sometimes the silhouette doesn’t flatter every figure, which impacts how often you reach for them. Trying different dress shapes or opting for more structured fits might better emphasize your proportions. Ultimately, reflecting on these regrets has helped me be more mindful of sizing, comfort, and style compatibility. Before buying, I now prioritize trying items on, reading multiple reviews, and considering how each piece fits into my existing wardrobe. This approach has saved me money and reduced fashion regrets significantly. What are some clothing items you've bought that you wish you hadn’t?
