- Growing up is a weird feeling✨🦋🤨
Growing up is honestly so weird.
No one really warns you that it’s not this big dramatic shift…it’s just a bunch of little realizations that hit you out of nowhere.
I’m turning 23, and lately I’ve just been noticing how different everything feels.
✨🦋
Friendships? They don’t always end with a fight. Sometimes they just slowly fade and it’s not anyone’s fault. That used to bother me, but now I kind of get it. People grow, life happens, and not everyone is meant to stay forever.
✨🦋
Being alone used to make me feel like I was missing out.
Now I kind of love it.
I’ll go for a drive, make my little coffee, put on a podcast, and just vibe. It feels good to actually enjoy your own company without needing constant noise. ✨🦋
I’ve also realized how important it is to have boundaries. And not just with strangers sometimes with people you love too.
I don’t feel guilty for saying no like I used to. Protecting your peace really is a form of self-respect.
✨🦋
And family hits different now.
I see my parents as actual people, not just “mom” and “dad.”
Like, they’ve lived full lives before me.
And I notice how time with them feels shorter now like the house I grew up in doesn’t fully feel like mine anymore.
I think that’s the part no one really talks about when you’re in your 20s.
You grow up and start realizing how fast everything’s moving.
(brb im crying 😭)
✨🦋
And honestly? I used to pick myself apart constantly..my skin, my nose, my smile in candids… I was so mean to myself over things no one else even noticed.
But the older I get, the more I realize how exhausting that was. I don’t want to waste my 20s wishing I looked different.
Now I’m learning to hype myself up the way I do for my friends. it’s about finally being kind to the girl in the mirror.
✨🦋
At 23, I definitely don’t have everything figured out. Some days I feel 17. Other days I’m Googling what a 401k is like ???🫣🫣

As we evolve through our twenties, the experience of growing up often comes with unexpected realizations and emotions. It's not just about entering adulthood; it's about unlearning past narratives and embracing our evolving selves. During this time, many individuals reflect on self-image and realize that those things we once hated about ourselves begin to morph into aspects we cherish. Learning to enjoy one's company and establishing personal boundaries becomes vital. Alone time provides opportunities for reflection and self-discovery. It's when we allow ourselves to sit in silence, perhaps enjoying a podcast or a drive, that true growth occurs. The shift in perspective regarding family relationships also plays a significant role; viewing parents as individuals with their own lives allows for deeper connections. This phase is often marked by uncertainty—questions about finances like 'what is a 401k?' and balancing feelings of youthiness with adult responsibilities. It's essential to recognize that this feeling of 'winging it' is shared among many. The growth journey goes beyond societal expectations of adulthood; embracing imperfections, navigating friendships that shift over time, and above all, learning to be kind to ourselves is crucial.
