help me choose my first read of the year ✨📖

2025/1/3 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, so you guys know the struggle, right? That never-ending TBR list that just keeps growing! I posted asking for help with my first read of the year, and I wanted to give you a bit more insight into the books I'm torn between, plus a peek at some of the others that are calling my name. It's so hard to choose when there are so many amazing stories waiting! First up, we have Katelyn Doyle's 'Just Some Stupid Love Story.' From what I've gathered, it sounds like a sweet, perhaps a bit angsty, contemporary romance. I'm a sucker for those 'will they, won't they' moments and the journey of two characters figuring things out. Sometimes you just need a feel-good, heartwarming read to kick off the year, and this one seems to fit the bill perfectly. I've heard amazing things about the witty banter and the emotional depth, so it's definitely high on my list for a reason. Then there's 'Don't Be In Love' by Liana Cincotti. This one also sounds like a romance, but maybe with a slightly different vibe. The title itself makes me curious – is it an anti-romance, or a story about falling in love when you least expect it? I love a good trope subversion! I'm hoping for something that makes me laugh and maybe even shed a tear or two. It feels like it could be a really thought-provoking take on modern relationships, which is something I always appreciate in a romance novel. But wait, there's more to my TBR! My shelves are a wild mix, and that's why this decision is so tough. For those who love a bit of magical realism and philosophical depth, 'The Midnight Library' by Matt Haig is staring at me, promising a journey through alternative lives. And if I'm in the mood for something darker and more fantastical, Rachel Gillig's 'One Dark Window' looks like it could transport me to a whole new world of magic and mystery. Then there's Elsie Silver's 'Reckless,' which I hear is a fantastic cowboy romance – perfect for when I need some steamy escapism. And for epic fantasy lovers, Brandon Sanderson's 'Mistborn' series has been on my list forever; I know it's a huge commitment, but everyone raves about it! Lynn Painter's 'Happily Never After' also sounds like a fun, witty romance, perhaps a lighter read. And for a bit of a brain-teaser, 'The Grandest Game' by Jennifer Lynn Barnes promises intrigue and puzzles. As you can see, I have a fantastic problem! What do you think? Should I go for the pure romance of 'Just Some Stupid Love Story' or the intriguing premise of 'Don't Be In Love' first? Or maybe one of the others is calling to you for me? Your recommendations are super helpful, so keep them coming!
