Cheers to 26 🫶🏾 8/17
As I approach 26, I’m realizing that so much of my life has been shaped by fear.
I was afraid to fail, so I wouldn’t allow myself to fully try. I was afraid of making the wrong decisions, so I stayed comfortable. I imagined my life looking so different when I was younger, but now I’m here—and I’m learning that I don’t have to be ashamed of where I am. I just have to be willing to change what I can, starting now.
This isn’t a message of shame toward my younger self. It’s a message of encouragement to anyone who feels stuck in the same cycle I was in. 🫂
You are not too late. Your past does not have to dictate your future. Sometimes reclaiming your life means facing the things you’re afraid of, taking the risk, and choosing yourself anyway.
Do what you need to do to become the person you know you’re capable of becoming. Build the life you once imagined—not perfectly, but intentionally.
Here’s to 26, growth, courage, and finally giving myself permission to live. 🤍🫂
Much love. 🤍

Turning 26 can feel like a pivotal moment where reflection on our past and hopes for the future collide. From my own experience, fear often acts as a barrier that limits our growth more than external challenges. Fear of failure, fear of making mistakes, and fear of discomfort can keep us stuck in safe but unfulfilling routines. What helped me most was shifting my mindset to see fear not as a stop sign but as a signal for opportunity—an invitation to grow. In practical terms, this mindset shift meant setting small, intentional goals geared toward change. Instead of waiting for the 'perfect' moment, I learned to take imperfect action and embrace the lessons in setbacks. This approach aligns with the idea shared in the article: failure is not a reflection of our worth but an inherent part of risk-taking. Another key realization was the importance of self-compassion. We often hold ourselves to harsh standards, especially when comparing our journey to others’. Instead, by accepting where we are without judgment, we create space to move forward authentically. Journaling my thoughts and progress helped me celebrate small wins and stay connected with my growth. If you find yourself feeling stuck or fearful at this age too, remember you are not alone, and it is never too late to start. Take time to identify what you want intentionally, then take small steps consistently. Surround yourself with supportive people who encourage your growth. Most importantly, choose yourself and trust that with courage and persistence, building the life you imagined is within reach.
