Some welders can handle different types of gases, like 100% CO2 or an Argon/CO2 mix, depending on the material. Always read your machine's manual and understand its features before you start. There aren't really 'different types of MIG welding' in the same way there are different welding processes, but rather different setups and gases depending on the metal you're working with.
