Our First and Last Zipair Experience 👀

Was flying Zipair to Tokyo worth it?

Honestly… yes. At least for the outbound flight.

I was a little nervous after reading all the mixed reviews online, but the experience genuinely exceeded my expectations. The cabin felt clean and modern, and we booked the Full Flat seats, which meant we could actually stretch out and sleep properly.

Our flight departed at 12.30am, and our meal was served around 1.30am. We had cold soba with bits of tempura batter and it was yummy! Afterwards, we managed to get an amazing 5 hours and woke up feeling refreshed and ready for our trip in Japan.

One thing I absolutely loved? The complimentary WiFi. I wasn’t expecting much, but it was surprisingly fast and reliable. I could browse, text, and upload stories with no issues at all.

You’re probably wondering why my husband and I weren’t seated next to each other. 🙈

After binge-watching way too many TikToks, we deliberately chose seats on the left side of the plane because apparently that’s where you get the iconic top-down view of Mount Fuji.

We sacrificed sitting together for almost nothing. 😂

We did spot Mount Fuji… just from really far away. Not quite the dramatic close-up everyone on TikTok seemed to get, but hey, it still counts, right? 🫠

Still, after such a smooth experience, we were already saying we’d definitely fly Zipair again. 🥰

Little did we know… our return journey would completely change our minds. 🙂‍↕️

But that’s a story for another day. 🫣

... Read moreFlying Zipair to Tokyo was an adventure filled with pleasant surprises and some lessons learned. From my experience, booking the Full Flat seats significantly enhanced comfort, especially on overnight flights. These seats allow you to truly stretch out and get solid rest, which can be rare on budget-friendly airlines. A standout feature for me was the complimentary WiFi onboard — it exceeded my expectations in both speed and reliability. Being able to stay connected at 30,000 feet made the journey feel less isolated and more enjoyable, especially since I could share travel updates instantly. One of the highlights was the carefully timed meal service. Serving cold soba with tempura batter bits might seem unusual to some, but it was surprisingly delicious and satisfying during the late-night hours. It also gave a little cultural flavor to the experience, which I appreciated as a traveler heading to Japan. However, if you’re aiming for the much-talked-about views of Mount Fuji from the plane, seating choices can be tricky. We deliberately picked seats on the left side in hopes of capturing that iconic top-down shot, but the view was more distant than what social media suggested. This reminded me that realistic expectations are key during flights over scenic landmarks. Though my husband and I ended up sitting apart due to this seat selection strategy, the overall cabin atmosphere was modern and clean, contributing to a relaxing ambiance. This was a huge plus, especially for a budget airline where the cabin environment can sometimes feel less inviting. Zipair’s Boeing 787-8 aircraft felt sleek and safe, with all the amenities needed for international travel without unnecessary frills. The safety information and inflight services were clear and accessible, ensuring peace of mind throughout the journey. While our outbound flight was smooth and enjoyable, I’m aware the return experience was quite different — something I’m keen to share once I’ve processed it fully. For those considering Zipair, my advice is to focus on your priorities: comfort, connectivity, and meal preferences. Booking the full flat seat can really upgrade your experience, but double-check seating assignments if catching scenic views matters to you. In summary, Zipair offers a worthwhile travel option to Tokyo for travelers looking for value combined with a touch of comfort and modern amenities. It’s a unique blend of budget-conscious flying with some unexpected perks that made our trip memorable.

Hello! To see the dramatic close up Fuji view, it will only be on the flight leaving Tokyo. From Tokyo > Sg, you’ll have to sit on the right side of the plane, and the pilot will usually announce it. About 30mins after take off~
