Snackle Box Ideas
I can appreciate a good snackle box. Endless days and nights at the ball field with 2 that play travel baseball…we get HUNGRY and concession stand foods only goes so far. Plus, it’s expensive!
- Fruits and vegetables: Summer is prime time for fresh fruits and vegetables. After long games in scorching heat and humidity, fruits and veggies are so refreshing. My kids always put a hurt on these selections.
-Meats and cheeses: Salami and beef sticks are always a staple. Is it the healthiest option? No. But I didn’t claim to pack the healthiest snackle box. I pack what I know my kids will eat and also what won’t melt. 🤣 I also grab a sleeve of ritz crackers (pack outside of the snackle box so the condensation doesn’t make them mushy) for quick and easy “lunchable” style snacks.
-Nuts and trail mixes: There’s so many varieties out there plus you can create your own customized mix to you and your kids liking and allergies. We’re currently on a sweet and spicy mix right now. 🤤
-Sliders: This is a new one for us. I love using Hawaiian Rolls and adding meats, lettuce and cheese for a quick snack. You can remove trays from your snackle box to fit these in! 🥪
-Cereal: Yep! DRY cereal. My kids love to munch on it as a quick snack.
What we avoid 🙅🏼♀️
-Anything that will melt: We utilize a cooler with lots of ice packs but with pulling the box in and out in the heat, I’d prefer not to have the gooey, sticky mess. So no chocolates, marshmallows, or candies / treats like gushers or fruit snacks. Live and learn!
-Chips and crackers: The condensation from the fruits and meats causes pretzels, chips, cheeze-its, goldfish and other like things to get soggy. If you pack a snackle box without all those cold items, it’s definitely a non-issue, but it’s a no-go for us.
