Having our Block Island wedding was truly the best decision we ever made for our special day! When we first started planning, we knew we wanted something intimate, memorable, and a bit of an adventure, and a Block Island wedding delivered on all fronts. Choosing Block Island for our beach wedding wasn't just about the stunning ocean views, though those were certainly a huge draw! It was about creating an immersive experience for our guests. The island itself is a destination, encouraging everyone to slow down, connect, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings together. We loved the idea of our wedding feeling like a mini-vacation for all our loved ones, rather than just a single event. One of the biggest advantages of an intimate wedding, like our group of 30, is the ability to really connect with each person who means the most to you. We purposefully kept our guest list small, focusing on immediate family and our very closest friends from different chapters of our lives. This allowed for genuine conversations, shared laughter, and a truly personal atmosphere that often gets lost in larger celebrations. It felt less like a formal event and more like a joyful family reunion, elevated by the backdrop of the sea. Planning a beach wedding on an island does come with its unique considerations, but they are totally manageable and worth it for the magic you create. We found it helpful to start looking into accommodations and local vendors early, especially since Block Island has a more limited selection compared to the mainland. We leaned into the island's charm when selecting everything from our caterer to our florist, opting for a relaxed, natural vibe that perfectly complemented the beachy vibes. Think fresh seafood, locally sourced flowers, and a relaxed dress code. For our guests, we provided a little welcome packet with ferry schedules, island maps, and recommendations for things to do. Many of our friends and family turned it into a long weekend, exploring the lighthouses, biking the scenic roads, and enjoying the beaches. This really amplified the "getaway" feeling we were aiming for. The actual ceremony on the beach was everything I imagined. The sound of the waves, the soft sand, and the intimate circle of our loved ones made it incredibly emotional and personal. There's something uniquely serene about exchanging vows with the ocean as your witness. If you're dreaming of a beach wedding that feels deeply personal, effortlessly beautiful, and unforgettable, I can't recommend a Block Island wedding enough. It wasn't just a wedding; it was an experience that bonded everyone and left us with memories we'll cherish forever.
