As a mom of girls heading to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), I’ve found that the journey is filled with both excitement and emotional growth. Visiting campuses during college tours gives a firsthand look at vibrant communities and rich cultural heritage that HBCUs proudly uphold. One of the most rewarding aspects is witnessing your child develop independence and confidence during their freshman year. It’s a time packed with new challenges—from adjusting to academics to making new friends—that shape them in meaningful ways. I’ve learned that providing consistent family support while encouraging self-reliance helps maintain a healthy balance. Documenting these moments through video blogs or journals not only preserves memories but also shares inspiration with other parents preparing for this chapter. Moments of pride, laughter, and even tears are all part of the emotional landscape that defines a ‘Mom Life Vlog.’ Whether it’s celebrating a good grade or comforting after a tough day, these milestones strengthen family bonds. For moms with daughters attending college, embracing this journey together emphasizes the importance of community and resilience. Being involved while allowing space for growth enables them to shine both academically and personally. Freshman year is just the beginning of a transformative experience that shapes the next generation of leaders and change-makers.
