Hey everyone! I wanted to share a bit more about my journey bringing the Ultimate Gamer, Chiaki Nanami from Danganronpa 2, to life through cosplay. She’s definitely one of my absolute favorite characters, and I just fell in love with her unique blend of sleepy charm and hidden determination. Getting her signature look just right was a fun challenge! For the wig, I opted for a soft lavender hue, focusing on recreating her distinct side bangs and those adorable little hair clips. It really helps to define her silhouette and capture her essence. The uniform itself is pretty iconic: that pink hooded jacket, a crisp white shirt, and a pleated skirt. I spent quite a bit of time sourcing fabrics that felt authentic to her style while also being comfortable enough to wear all day at conventions. And of course, you can’t forget her essential props! Her backpack is such a crucial element of her character design. I managed to find one that closely matched her in-game appearance and even added a few gaming-themed pins to give it that extra personal touch. And what's Chiaki without her beloved game console? I always make sure to carry a prop handheld system for photoshoots – it instantly makes the character recognizable. For makeup, I kept it relatively natural, aiming to make my eyes appear a bit wider and softer, to truly capture her gentle yet observant gaze. A subtle pink blush and lip tint completed the look, giving her that youthful, slightly flushed appearance. Posing as Chiaki is all about conveying that sleepy, sometimes a bit clumsy, but always lovable gamer vibe. Think thoughtful expressions, a slight tilt of the head, or casually holding her game console. Sometimes I even try to mimic her iconic napping poses! My favorite part about cosplaying Chiaki is the immediate recognition she gets from fellow fans. It's awesome to connect with other Danganronpa enthusiasts and share our love for the series.
