Read moreIf you're looking to add a captivating spooky season read to your TBR list, Tourist Season by Brynne Weaver offers a unique blend of dark romance, suspense, and humor that is hard to put down. Set in the eerie seaside town of Cape Carnage—a place known for its colorful houses, quirky shops, and an unusually high body count—this novel introduces Harper Starling, a skilled gardener with sharp instincts and a strong commitment to protecting her community. The narrative quickly thickens with the arrival of Nolan Rhodes, a mysterious tourist with a dark agenda, whose pursuit of revenge intersects with Harper’s mission to safeguard her town. This book expertly combines elements of a slow burn romance with chilling thriller dynamics, weaving tension and attraction between its protagonists amidst a backdrop of secrets and danger. What sets Tourist Season apart is the witty, darkly comedic tone that balances the suspense, making it both entertaining and gripping for readers who enjoy enemies-to-lovers tropes. Fans of true crime and mystery will appreciate the subplot involving an amateur investigator digging into a long-lost serial killer case, which intertwines seamlessly with Harper and Nolan’s uneasy alliance and growing obsession. The rich character development and vivid depiction of Cape Carnage provide a immersive experience that feels like stepping into a darkly twisted yet alluring world. Loved it!! Brynne Weaver is one of my fave authors anyway. Her writing is adorable and grotesque in the best ways! I honestly think I liked this more than the Ruinous Love Trilogy. But I’m super jealous of yours with the sprayed edges!
