Where 📍: We went to work in Idaho Springs, Colorado.

First job 🥪: For our main job, it was a Subway girl, a job that wasn't chosen at the beginning but didn't really have an option. 😅

Two jobs 🍕: Beaujo's pizza, the famous town that anyone has been through here. It's a job that we didn't think we'd do because it was hard to find two jobs, but finally got to do it.

เมื่อได้ลองทำงานขายแซนวิชในต่างแดนจริงๆ สิ่งที่สัมผัสได้มากที่สุดเลยคือความท้าทายของการปรับตัวกับสภาพแวดล้อมใหม่ ๆ ตั้งแต่สภาพอากาศที่เย็นจนต้องรับมือกับมือที่บาดเป็นแผล จากการล็อกประตูที่แข็งแรง ไปจนถึงการเรียนรู้เมนูและระบบงานภายในร้าน Subway อย่างรวดเร็วภายในเพียง 1 สัปดาห์เท่านั้น ความรู้สึกแรกที่ได้ทำงานที่นี่คือเหนื่อยมาก เพราะต้องยืนทำงานนานถึง 8 ชั่วโมงโดยมีเวลาพักไม่กี่นาที แถมยังต้องทำหลายอย่าง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการอบขนมปังด้วยตัวเอง ทำความสะอาด หรือแม้แต่ล้างจานที่ทำให้มือแห้งแตก จนต้องฝึกทนกับความทรมานนี้ไปเพื่อแลกกับรายได้และประสบการณ์ ในช่วงเวลาที่งานยุ่งที่สุด เช่น ช่วงพักกลางวัน จะรู้สึกได้ว่ามีความกดดันอย่างมาก แต่ก็มีรางวัลให้ อาทิ แซนวิชฟรีแบบที่สามารถทำเองได้ตามใจ และมิตรภาพกับเพื่อนร่วมงานที่ชาวต่างชาติที่เข้ามาช่วยกันทำงานและสร้างบรรยากาศสนุก ๆ ในที่ทำงาน คอยช่วยเหลือและเป็นกำลังใจให้กันในวันที่เหนื่อยล้า งานที่ร้าน Beaujo’s Pizza ซึ่งเป็นร้านดังในเมืองเองก็เต็มไปด้วยความสนุกและโอกาสได้ฝึกทักษะใหม่ ๆ เช่น ทำสลัดและดูแลลูกค้าในตำแหน่งโฮสต์ ซึ่งงานนี้มีความชิลมากกว่าและสามารถฟังเพลงคลายเครียดได้ ทำให้รู้สึกว่าร่างกายได้พักผ่อนบ้าง แม้บางช่วงจะยุ่งก็ยังมีความสนุกและความเป็นกันเองจากเพื่อนร่วมงานที่น่ารัก จากประสบการณ์จริงนี้ ช่วยให้ได้เรียนรู้ว่าการทำงานต่างประเทศไม่ใช่เรื่องง่าย ต้องมีใจสู้และพร้อมปรับตัว พร้อมทั้งยอมรับความเสี่ยงและความลำบากที่จะเจอ แต่เมื่อผ่านพ้นไปแล้ว จะเป็นประสบการณ์ชีวิตที่มีค่าและทำให้เติบโตขึ้นอย่างมีความหมาย สุดท้ายขอแนะนำสำหรับคนที่กำลังตัดสินใจเข้าร่วมโครงการ Work and Travel ว่าหากคุณมองหาเพียงรายได้อย่างเดียว อาจต้องพิจารณาให้ดี เพราะงานลักษณะนี้ค่อนข้างเหนื่อยและมีความท้าทายสูง แต่ถ้าคุณเปิดใจรับประสบการณ์ใหม่ ๆ และพร้อม enjoy กับทุกสถานการณ์ งานนี้คือโอกาสที่ดีในการเรียนรู้และเติบโตที่ไม่ควรพลาด!
