Hey everyone! If you're anything like me, you've spent countless hours trying to get better at Rocket League. It's an amazing game, but sometimes it feels like everyone else is just naturally better at hitting those incredible aerials or making impossible saves. I wanted to share some of my personal tips and insights that really helped me improve, especially when it comes to consistently getting a "SHOT ON GOAL" and actually seeing that satisfying "IZ SCORED" pop up! First off, let's talk about BALL CAM. This is probably the most fundamental setting, yet so many new players struggle with it. My biggest tip? Embrace it! I used to toggle it off constantly, feeling like I couldn't see my car. But trust me, keeping "BALL CAM" on for the majority of the game is crucial for understanding the ball's position and trajectory. It helps you anticipate plays, make better clearances, and most importantly, position yourself for offensive opportunities. The only times I usually switch it off are when I'm grabbing boost, dribbling the ball directly on top of my car, or trying to find a specific teammate or opponent to demo. Practice getting comfortable with it, and you'll notice a massive difference in your awareness. Next up, boost management is a game-changer. It's not just about having boost; it's about using it efficiently. I learned this the hard way: don't just hold down the boost button all the time! Try to incorporate small, controlled boosts and flips to gain speed. Collecting small boost pads around the arena is often more effective than chasing after big boost orbs, especially if it takes you far out of the play. Always try to keep at least a little bit of boost in reserve for emergencies, like a quick save or a sudden offensive push. Having that extra bit of power can be the difference between a missed opportunity and a perfectly executed "SHOT ON GOAL". Another thing that really elevated my game was understanding basic rotations. Rocket League is a team game, even in 1v1s (against yourself for practice!). In 2v2 or 3v3, knowing when to attack and when to defend is vital. I try to always have one person challenging the ball while another covers the goal. If I've just challenged and missed, I immediately rotate back towards my own goal, allowing my teammate to push forward. This prevents double commits and leaves your goal vulnerable. It sounds simple, but maintaining good rotation dramatically reduces the number of easy goals scored against you and creates more opportunities for your team to "SCORED". Finally, for those wanting to improve their scoring, practice your power shots and basic aerials. You don't need to be a freestyling pro to be effective. For power shots, focus on hitting the ball with the corner of your car's hitbox and flipping into it. This gives the ball a lot more speed and makes it harder for opponents to save. For aerials, start with simple jumps. Just jump, boost towards the ball, and try to make contact. Don't worry about aiming perfectly at first; just getting consistent contact in the air is a huge step. Once you're comfortable, you can start adding a second jump or a flip for more power or precision. I remember when I first started consistently hitting aerial shots; it felt like I unlocked a whole new level of play and could finally start aiming for those top-corner "SHOT ON GOAL" moments! Keep practicing, and you'll be hitting those amazing plays in no time.
