I dont do a lot of furniture flips but this was definitely my favorite of the year.

I used a micro cement on the top and used plumbers pipe for the legs and wrapped them in veneer.

How do you think it turned out? Would you try micro cement?

... Read moreHey everyone! I just had to share my latest DIY adventure, because it truly turned into my favorite furniture flip this year. It all started when I found this old table. Honestly, it was a total steal price-wise, but when I got it home, I realized it was pretty beat up, flimsy, and had that classic 'fake wood look' that just screams 'college dorm.' Instead of scrapping it, I saw potential for a complete transformation into something with 'designer coffee table energy.' My secret weapon? Micro cement! I'd heard about it, and thought, if it's gonna be fake, it might as well be 'fake stone,' right? The first step was crucial: I thoroughly wiped down and prepped the surface. Then came the Smart Base, which I rolled on. This stuff is amazing – it's like giving your furniture a super-strong foundation. I applied two coats, waiting about 30 minutes between each. It looked a bit like 'icing' at first, but it made the whole thing so much stronger. Next up was the Smart Liso, which is the actual micro cement layer. I applied this carefully with a trowel, aiming for that smooth, stone-like finish. It’s definitely a process of building up layers and getting it just right. After letting it dry for a full day, I sealed it all with Smart Varnish. This step is super important to protect your new surface, especially if it’s going to be a high-traffic piece like a coffee table. I treat every surface with it! For the legs, I wanted something sturdy and unique, so I went full DIY with PVC pipe from the hardware store. It sounds wild, but once I wrapped them in veneer, they looked incredibly chic. It was a bit like wrapping a 'tiny burrito,' but the result was so worth it! I just glued the veneer into place, making sure it was secure. The total cost for this entire overhaul? Under $100! It’s incredible how a little creativity and some affordable materials can turn a particle board mess into a statement piece. I'm so proud of how this 'designer coffee table' turned out. If you've been thinking about trying micro cement or upcycling an old piece, I highly recommend it. It's challenging but so rewarding. Plus, who doesn't love a good budget-friendly home glow-up? Let me know if you've tried micro cement – I'd love to hear your experiences!
