Welcome to Day 1 of my Built for Better journey
DAY 1 🤎
Today’s “better” looked a lot different than I imagined.
Instead of trying to change my whole life overnight, I tackled something that had been on my mind for way too long…
I went through all four of my kids’ clothes. 🩶
I decluttered what no longer fit, organized everything, and made room for what they actually need.
It wasn’t glamorous, but walking away from those rooms with one less thing hanging over my head felt like a win.
I’m learning that building a better life isn’t about huge, life-changing moments.
It’s about doing the little things that make tomorrow feel a little lighter.
One drawer.
One room.
One better step at a time. 🤎
Welcome to Day 1 of my Built for Better journey
Starting this journey with organizing my kids’ closets was honestly one of the most refreshing decisions I've made in a long time. Having two shared closets—one for my 7 and 8-year-olds and another for my 2 and 4-year-olds—meant the clutter had been quietly building up. Before sorting, I'd constantly feel overwhelmed just walking past those rooms, as if the mess was an unspoken stressor. What helped me was setting a realistic goal: focus on one drawer or one section at a time instead of trying to fix everything at once. I pulled everything out, made piles of clothes that no longer fit, and separated what could be donated or passed down. Taking “before” and “after” photos really motivated me to keep going—seeing those neat, organized closets felt like a small victory worth celebrating. Another tip I found useful was labeling bins or shelves within the closets. This simple step helped me and my kids identify what goes where, making it easier to maintain the order daily. Plus, it gave me peace of mind knowing the spaces are functional for everyone’s needs. What surprised me most was how this little project lightened my mental load. Decluttering children’s clothes might not be glamorous, but it sure made my day-to-day routine smoother. I truly believe that building a better life isn’t always about grand changes but about the consistent, small actions we take that add up over time. If you’re thinking about starting your own Built for Better journey, I’d encourage you to find that one small task that's been on your mind and tackle it with patience and care. Whether it’s organizing a drawer, clearing a countertop, or tidying a closet, these steps can help you feel more in control and bring a little more calm to your home and life.
