Jesus isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty
There is NOTHING in you or in me that is too messy or messed up for Jesus to come, touch us, and set things right. Christ suffered and died on the cross so that through faith in him, would be made right (“righteous”) again in the sight of God.
Jesus not only isn’t afraid of those places in us, he is just waiting for us to let us in to exactly those places so that he can put his loving hands on us.
When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. (Matthew 8:1–3)
From my own experiences, I've found that life's greatest challenges often feel overwhelming and isolating, as if our problems are too big or too messy for anyone to help. Yet, reflecting on the story of Jesus healing the man with leprosy reminds me that no situation is beyond His reach. What stood out to me most is Jesus' willingness to not only help from a distance but to physically touch the man—breaking cultural taboos around leprosy to bring healing and restoration. This teaches us that Jesus is deeply personal and willing to enter the 'dirty' parts of our lives, the struggles we often hide. In real life, embracing this truth helped me bring my own struggles into the light rather than hiding them. It’s comforting to know that Jesus does not judge our imperfections or illnesses but rather meets us where we are with love and healing. When we open our hearts and allow Him to work in those difficult areas, transformation begins. The story encourages us to trust in Jesus' willingness and power to cleanse and renew. Moreover, this narrative fosters stronger faith because it shows God's empathy toward human suffering and His readiness to respond to sincere faith requests. Just like the man with leprosy knelt and asked Jesus for healing, we too can approach Him with confidence, knowing He is willing and able to help us become whole again. This perspective has personally nurtured my relationship with faith, reminding me that no matter how broken or messy life feels, healing and hope are always within reach through Jesus.
