Don’t eat your blessings off the floor
Keep your eyes open to the blessings that God is giving you now (hint: sometimes they look like responsibility, sometimes they’re scary), so that you don’t have to try to salvage the pieces of them off the floor later.
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Sometimes blessings don't come wrapped in obvious joy or ease—they often appear as tasks or challenges that test our faith and resilience. I've found that viewing responsibilities and even fears as blessings in disguise helps me stay grounded and thankful. For instance, parenting can sometimes feel overwhelming, but when I focus on the opportunity to nurture and guide my children as a blessing, it transforms my perspective. Drawing inspiration from 2 Corinthians 9:8, which reminds us that God provides all we need to abound in good works, I've learned to embrace every moment, knowing that even the difficult times serve a purpose. When I kept my eyes open to blessings disguised in daily routines and responsibilities, I found greater peace and fulfillment. This mindset reduces the tendency to overlook or 'drop' blessings like pieces on the floor—meaning missed opportunities or neglected gifts. Counting blessings actively, whether big or small, helps strengthen faith and encourages a lifestyle of gratitude and generosity. It’s not always easy, but reflecting on God’s abundant grace even in times of uncertainty has made a real difference in my spiritual journey. So, don’t wait to pick up the pieces later—recognize and cherish your blessings now, as they often hold the keys to growth and deeper joy.
Thank you. I truly enjoy your sermons. Amen.
