... Read moreWow, what an incredible day at Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I just had to share my experience on the 'Flights of the Hippogriff' ride. If you're planning a trip, especially with family, you absolutely have to check this out. Located right in Hogsmeade, this ride is often overshadowed by its bigger, more intense neighbors, but honestly, it’s a total gem, especially for those who love a bit of magic without too much of a scare. As soon as you step into the queue, you're transported to Hagrid's pumpkin patch and his hut. The theming is fantastic, with giant pumpkins, a familiar scent of pine, and even a glimpse of Buckbeak's nest. It really sets the mood and makes the wait feel a lot shorter. When it was our turn, we hopped into the wicker-style coaster cars. Before you launch, Hagrid himself gives you instructions on how to approach a Hippogriff – remember to bow! It's such a charming touch. The ride itself is a family-friendly roller coaster, perfect for younger witches and wizards who might not be ready for the inversions of other rides. It's not super fast, nor does it have huge drops, but it offers a genuinely fun, swooping, and soaring experience. You get some fantastic views of Hogsmeade Castle and the surrounding area, which is a big bonus. The feeling of flying high above the Forbidden Forest, even if it's just for a minute or so, is truly magical. My Top Tips for Flights of the Hippogriff: Great for All Ages (Mostly): This is definitely one of the more accessible rides in the Wizarding World. If you have younger kids (minimum height 36 inches / 91 cm), or if you just prefer a milder coaster, this is your go-to. It's a great "first coaster" experience. Check Wait Times: While it's usually not as long as Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, wait times can still build up. I always recommend checking the Universal Orlando app for current wait times. Riding early in the morning or later in the evening usually means shorter lines. Single Rider Line? Sometimes there's a single rider line available, which can drastically cut down your wait. If you're okay splitting up from your group for a few minutes, it's worth asking a Team Member if it's open. Enjoy the Queue: Don't rush through Hagrid's Hut and the pumpkin patch! There are so many cool details to spot. It's part of the immersive experience. Look Up! During the ride, take a moment to look around at the incredible theming of Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle. The views are surprisingly good! Overall, Flights of the Hippogriff might not be the most thrilling ride at Universal, but it perfectly captures the magic and charm of the Wizarding World. It's a must-do for families and anyone who wants to experience a gentle, enchanting flight with a majestic Hippogriff. I left with a huge smile on my face, feeling like I'd just had a personal encounter with Buckbeak himself. Absolutely loved it!
