How I Lost 100 Lbs After Birth Control
Hi friends! I wanted to share with you my weight loss progress and what I did to achieve that!! For background, I was on birth control and I hit my highest weight of 270 in 2020. It can be a b**ch to lose that weight after putting it on. Especially cause I got insulin resistance too 😭😭 I had the nexplanon birth control implant in my arm for almost 2 years and swole like a f**kin balloon bro 😭
So what did I do❓❓❓
- ✨Switching my diet✨
I started intermittent fasting and putting myself in a caloric deficit. I would eat from 12-5pm on M, T, Th, & F. I would eat whatever with no restrictions because I knew I would be working out extra hard those days. But on W, S, & Sun, I would do the same 12-5p fasting window but I was more mindful of what I was fueling my body with so I could still hit a caloric deficit with not so intense training those days. With that said, I stopped consuming so much sugar. I stopped drinking coffee & red bulls and started drinking teas & more water. Green smoothies became my best friend. I started prioritizing my protein intake. It was a huge change compared to eating out every single day 😭
- ✨Fixing that mental health✨
This is going to sound silly but my mental health was very awful until about 2022. I lived in a toxic household, had relationships & friendships that felt very one sided, like you ever just feel like “okay i know when im the problem & aint no way ive been the problem this long 😭😭”?? cause that was me. I just knew something had to be done about my mental health. I decided to get a therapist shortly after meeting my boyfriend & literally after that I feel like im facing calmer waters! 🥹
- ✨Hitting the Gym✨
Before I moved out with my boyfriend, me and my gay bsf had a got gym membership & went everyday! We had a night time routine of meeting at my place for a gardening🌳💨 & music sesh. We mainly did cardio as that was honestly the funnest thing for 2 gym amateurs lmao. After I moved out with my boyfriend, he introduced me to new equipment and machines & now I can’t go 2 days without hitting legs 😭😭🤣
I hope this was helpful & inspirational to someone looking for some words of hope & a light at the end of the tunnel. I’m still going along on my journey but it does get easier once you just get at it & keep on going!!

Losing weight can feel overwhelming, especially after hormonal changes caused by birth control. Many women experience weight gain, which can contribute to mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. It's essential to address both physical and mental health to achieve sustainable weight loss. Intermittent fasting, like the 12-5pm eating window I followed, has gained popularity as an effective method for weight management. It promotes a caloric deficit and helps regulate insulin levels, which is crucial for those with insulin resistance. This method, combined with nutritious foods like green smoothies and lean protein sources, can lead to significant health improvements. Additionally, prioritizing mental wellness can fuel motivation and resilience during your weight loss journey. Engaging in therapy or surrounding yourself with supportive relationships can contribute to a healthier mindset, further enabling successful lifestyle changes. Regular exercise is vital for weight management and overall health. Incorporating both cardio and strength training, as my boyfriend helped me discover, ensures a well-rounded fitness routine. Remember, consistency and patience are key — small, gradual changes can lead to lasting results!
