Finding my calm in clay ✨
It’s only been a couple of months since I started pottery, but it’s already become my favorite way to reset and spark creativity. There’s something so meditative about shaping something with your hands. Quiets the mind and lets new ideas flow.
For this recent piece, I brought in my painting skills and loved how it turned out! A little color, a little texture, and a whole lot of joy.
For pottery, I learn to be patient too. Each piece takes months lol from sculpting, glazing then firing. Breaking pieces along the way.

Starting pottery was a game changer for me when it came to managing stress and unlocking creativity. When you engage with clay, there's this soothing tactile connection that naturally calms the mind. I found that working with my hands not only quiets the mental noise but also fosters a deeper mindfulness. You start to focus solely on the process of shaping, smoothing, and painting, which can be incredibly refreshing in our busy and digital-heavy lives. One thing I quickly learned is that pottery requires patience and acceptance of imperfection. Pieces can break during firing or glazing, and that's part of what makes the craft so humbling and rewarding. The time invested—from sculpting the initial form to painting vibrant details—is a slow, thoughtful journey. It reminded me that creativity isn’t about rushing to a finished product, but about embracing each step and learning from any challenges. Adding paint and texture to my pottery combined two of my passions and made the process even more enjoyable and personal. This blending of skills turns each piece not just into a functional item, but a little work of art that reflects moments of calm and joy. If you’re looking for a mental reset or a new creative outlet, I highly recommend trying pottery. Even as a beginner, it’s accessible and deeply rewarding. For those who prefer quicker creative bursts, drawing or journaling might be your go-to, but if you crave a slower, tactile connection to your art, pottery could be just what you need. Taking time for creative hobbies like this has profoundly impacted my daily life, helping me manage stress better and stay inspired.
