Hey everyone! If you're dreaming of an incredible weekend escape, let me tell you, Turkey is an absolute must-visit. I recently squeezed in an amazing trip, and I want to share how you can make the most of just a few days exploring its wonders, especially covering the iconic spots like the Blue Mosque, Cappadocia's balloons, and the stunning Pamukkale! First stop, Istanbul! My visit to the Blue Mosque was truly breathtaking. The sheer scale and intricate tile work inside are mesmerizing. I'd recommend going early in the morning to avoid the biggest crowds, and remember to dress modestly – they do provide coverings if you don't have your own. Just a stone's throw away is Hagia Sophia, so you can easily tick off two historical marvels in one go. Walking through Sultanahmet Square, I felt like I'd stepped back in time; it's an experience everyone should have. Next, a quick flight took me to the magical lands of Cappadocia. This was, without a doubt, a highlight. Waking up before dawn for a hot air balloon ride over the fairy chimney rock formations was surreal. Watching the sunrise paint the landscape as hundreds of balloons ascended around us was pure magic. I booked my ride a few months in advance, and I highly recommend it, as spots fill up fast, especially for a weekend trip. After the flight, we explored some of the famous cave dwellings and walked through valleys that looked like something from another planet. Wear comfortable shoes – you'll be doing a lot of exploring! My final incredible stop was Pamukkale, the 'Cotton Castle.' Walking barefoot on the brilliant white travertine terraces and dipping my feet in the warm thermal pools was so relaxing after all the sightseeing. It's truly a unique geological wonder. Don't forget your swimwear if you want to soak in the ancient pools at Hierapolis (Cleopatra's Pool is nearby!). For a weekend trip, domestic flights are your best friend for connecting these distant locations quickly. I found booking them in advance saved me both time and money. Don't shy away from trying the local street food – my taste buds are still thanking me for the kebabs and baklava! And remember to pack layers; the weather can vary between regions, especially if you're up for a sunrise balloon ride. It's a whirlwind, but absolutely worth every moment!
