WOULD YOU RAGE?
Hey Lemon8 fam! Let's talk about something real that every Brawlhalla player has probably experienced: RAGE. You know, that moment when you're just trying to enjoy a few matches, and suddenly, you're facing a Gnash spamming down-light, or a Mordex who just won't stop attacking. Your blood pressure starts to rise, your hands might clench, and suddenly, the fun is gone. I’ve been there more times than I can count, and it can really ruin a gaming session. For me, the rage usually kicks in when I feel like I'm losing unfairly, or when I'm constantly getting caught in the same combos. There’s nothing quite like getting edge-guarded repeatedly or feeling like your opponent is just getting lucky. It’s easy to let those emotions take over and start playing sloppily, making even more mistakes. I remember one time, I was playing ranked, and I kept getting matched against the same guy who only used one signature move over and over. I was so frustrated, I just started blindly attacking, and of course, I lost round after round. It was a classic case of letting rage dictate my gameplay. But I've learned a few things over my hundreds of hours in the game, especially living in places like Tulsa where competitive gaming is pretty active. Here are my go-to tips for keeping that Brawlhalla rage in check: Take a Breather: This is number one. If I lose two or three games in a row and feel myself getting heated, I step away. Even just five minutes to grab a drink, stretch, or scroll through TikTok can reset my mindset. Come back with fresh eyes, and you'll often play better. Focus on Improvement, Not Just Wins: It’s easy to get caught up in your ELO, but sometimes, focusing on a specific skill helps. Are you struggling with recovery? Practice only that. Are you getting hit by a certain 'SP SPO' (special move spam)? Go into training mode and figure out how to counter it. When you focus on learning, losses become lessons, not just frustrations. Switch It Up: Is your main legend not working out? Try a different one! Sometimes a change of pace or a different weapon set can spark new energy. Or, if ranked is making you mad, jump into experimental or custom lobbies for some casual fun. Analyze Your Replays: This is a big one. It's hard to admit your mistakes, but watching your own replays can be incredibly insightful. You'll often see exactly where you messed up, or why that 'unbeatable' opponent managed to win. It helps depersonalize the loss and turn it into a learning opportunity. Positive Self-Talk: It sounds cheesy, but it works. Instead of thinking "I'm so bad," try "Okay, I missed that dodge, but I'll get it next time." Celebrating small victories, even just hitting a cool combo, can keep your spirits up. Play with Friends: Playing with buddies, even in 2v2s or custom games, makes the experience more about fun and less about intense competition. Laughing off mistakes together is a great rage-reducer! Remember, Brawlhalla is a game meant to be enjoyed. Don’t let a few frustrating matches steal your joy. We all have those moments where we want to just scream, but with a few strategies, you can turn that rage into motivation to get better and have more fun.
