❄️ Must-Visit Places in HOKKAIDO, JAPAN! 🇯🇵✨
Hokkaido is a winter wonderland and a dream destination for nature, culture, and adventure lovers. Here are some must-visit spots from my trip! ✨
📍1. Hill of the Buddha (Makomanai Takino Cemetery) 🪷
📝 Why You Should Visit: A breathtaking giant Buddha statue surrounded by a lavender-covered hill in summer and snowy landscapes in winter. A peaceful and spiritual spot!
✅ Good Part: The tunnel leading to the Buddha creates an awe-inspiring reveal! The surrounding cemetery is also beautifully designed.
⚠️ Need to Note: Best visited in the morning for fewer crowds. Entry fee: ¥300.
🚆 How to Get There: 40 min by bus from Makomanai Station (Sapporo Subway).
📍2. Otaru – The Romantic Canal Town 🏮
📝 Why You Should Visit: A charming port city with European-style buildings, a picturesque canal, and amazing seafood!
✅ Good Part: The Otaru Canal at sunset is magical, and you can try fresh uni (sea urchin) and sushi at the markets! 🍣
⚠️ Need to Note: It can get crowded, so visit early or late in the evening for a peaceful stroll.
🚆 How to Get There: 30 min by train from Sapporo Station.
📍3. Rusutsu Resort – Best Skiing & Snow Fun ⛷️❄️
📝 Why You Should Visit: A top-tier ski resort with powdery snow, indoor wave pools, onsens, and even an amusement park in summer!
✅ Good Part: Amazing for both skiers and non-skiers with fun winter activities like snowmobiling and dog sledding. 🐶
⚠️ Need to Note: Ski season is December–April! Book accommodations early as it’s a popular resort.
🚆 How to Get There: 2-hour bus ride from New Chitose Airport or Sapporo.
📍4. Jozankei Onsen – The Ultimate Hot Spring Escape ♨️🌿
📝 Why You Should Visit: A stunning onsen town surrounded by mountains, perfect for relaxing in natural hot springs while enjoying scenic river views. 🍂❄️
✅ Good Part: Beautiful open-air baths (rotenburo), cozy ryokans, and the vibrant autumn foliage or snowy winter views. 🏔️
⚠️ Need to Note: Some onsens allow day visits, but for the best experience, book an overnight stay at a traditional ryokan.
🚆 How to Get There: 1-hour bus ride from Sapporo Station.
📍5. Sapporo Fushimi Inari Shrine ⛩️
📝 Why You Should Visit: A hidden gem with Torii gates just like Kyoto’s famous Fushimi Inari but way less crowded!
✅ Good Part: A peaceful walk through red gates with scenic views over Sapporo city.
⚠️ Need to Note: There’s a steep hill to climb, so wear comfortable shoes!
🚆 How to Get There: 10 min by taxi from Sapporo Station or a 30-min uphill walk from Maruyama Koen Station.
