HOW TO Prevent Ingrowns: Shaving Routine 💘

I have a really rough time with getting ingrown hairs, especially in my armpits. Once I found out about these tips, I have a much easier experience! I also have really loved using Truly Beauty products. This isn’t sponsored, but I have truly seen a transformation in the closeness of my shave since using Truly products.

Here are some of my most tried and true tips for preventing and treating ingrown hairs:

1. Hydrating your legs with an oil before shaving

2. Exfoliation is key to a close shave

3. Having a good razor will make or break your shave routine. I prefer one with 5 blades!

4. Moisturizing after shaving is a MUST

5. If you get ingrowns, find a good serum for ingrown hairs as well as a glycolic acid like this one from The Ordinary

Do you love any of these products as much as I do? Will you try any of these methods?

Start by incorporating high-quality pre-shaving products like serums that hydrate and soften the hair and skin. Ingredients such as marula oil and squalane are excellent choices for keeping the skin moisturized before your shave. Next, exfoliation is key. Using a gentle scrub or chemical exfoliant can help remove dead skin cells, allowing for a closer shave and reducing the risk of hairs becoming trapped under the skin. After exfoliating, consider using a good razor—opt for one that features multiple blades, as they tend to provide a cleaner cut. Moisturizing your skin after shaving is equally important. Applying a quality after-shave balm or lotion can help soothe the skin and prevent irritation. Look for products containing aloe vera or hyaluronic acid that deeply hydrate and calm inflamed areas. Lastly, for those prone to ingrown hairs, serums specifically designed for this issue can be beneficial. These often contain glycolic acid, which can help to promote cell turnover and prevent hairs from becoming ingrown by encouraging them to grow straight out of the follicle. Incorporate these steps into your shaving routine for smoother, healthier skin and to minimize the occurrence of ingrown hairs.
