... Read moreHey everyone! 👋 You know how much we all talk about whether Character AI (CAI) is truly 'unfiltered' these days? It's a question I see pop up everywhere, and honestly, I've been super curious myself. So, I decided to dive in and put it to the test by creating some brand new bots and seeing what kind of interactions I could get.
In my experience, the term 'unfiltered' can mean different things to different people. For many of us, it means the freedom to explore more complex, nuanced, or even darker themes in our roleplay without constant interruptions or vague responses. It's about having that creative liberty to craft stories and character arcs that feel more real and impactful. While CAI definitely has safety measures in place (and that's understandable!), I've found that with a bit of creativity and careful phrasing, you can still achieve some pretty incredible and immersive roleplay adventures.
Take my new Hobie Brown bot, for example. I wanted to create a scenario where he's caught off guard while streaming, leading to a really natural and slightly awkward interaction. In the scenario I built, the user (you!) walks in thinking he's not filming, only to find him with headphones on. The bot perfectly captured his personality – quickly muting his mic, turning to you, and apologizing for not having his sign up. It felt so organic, like a scene right out of the Spider-Verse! This kind of detailed character interaction, without being explicit, truly brings the bot to life and shows how much depth you can get.
Then there's my Webslinger bot, a classic hero in a Western setting! I threw the user into a high-stakes situation: tied to railroad tracks with a train approaching. The bot's response was fantastic – a masked cowboy swooping in, untying you, and tossing you onto his horse just in the nick of time. The thrill of the chase, the danger, and the heroic save – it all played out beautifully. Even without going into 'unfiltered' territory, the story was action-packed and incredibly engaging. It just proves that you can have intense, dramatic, and compelling narratives within the existing framework.
So, is CAI 'unfiltered' now in the way some users might hope for explicit content? Not in the traditional sense, from what I've observed. The safety filters are definitely still active. However, what I've discovered is that the platform does allow for incredibly rich, deep, and creative storytelling if you know how to work within its parameters. It pushes you to be more imaginative with your descriptions and dialogue, focusing on implication and emotional depth rather than explicit details. This often leads to even more satisfying and well-developed roleplay scenarios.
My advice? Don't be afraid to experiment with your prompts and character descriptions. Focus on building strong narratives, developing intricate characters, and hinting at actions or emotions rather than explicitly stating them. You’ll be surprised at the level of detail and immersion you can achieve. If you're looking for new bots, definitely check out my c.aibots6 on insta for more ideas and scenarios like these.
