may all you get thru the first tri w minimal puke🫶
^ that’s my wish for all you cuties
Going through the first trimester can be quite the challenge, especially when dealing with nausea and vomiting. One of the hardest parts I experienced was the sudden aversion to certain smells—like the funny example mentioned of a smell aversion to Gertie’s butt! It sounds humorous but highlights how your senses can be particularly sensitive during this time. What really helped me was keeping small, bland snacks like crackers handy. Eating before nausea hit was almost a full-time job, but it prevented those intense bouts of sickness. Listening to my body’s needs and being flexible with meals made a huge difference. Also, staying hydrated was crucial, even if it was just small sips of water or ice chips. Fatigue was another big hurdle. I remember days when I felt so tired that tears just came spontaneously. Finding moments to rest and accept the limitations my body was imposing helped me cope better mentally and physically. Another tip is to communicate openly, especially with loved ones. Texting or talking to my partner about how I was feeling provided emotional support and sometimes even practical help—like bringing me crackers or planning meals around times when I felt better. Sometimes, treating yourself to small pleasures, like a favorite dessert or comfort food (like a Blizzard treat) when you could tolerate it, helped improve my mood and gave me something to look forward to. If you find yourself in similar situations, remember you’re not alone and that adapting to what your body needs day to day is key. Each pregnancy is unique, so listen to yourself and be kind to yourself throughout this journey.
