⛩️ Seimei Shrine | In the Footsteps of the Legendary Great Sorcerer, Myoji Shrine of Kyoto
If anyone likes Japanese mythology or has watched anime and games about Myoji, they should have heard of Abe no Seimei before! ✨
Seimei Shrine (/) is a shrine built to be dedicated to Abe no Seimei, a famous Heian-era Myoji, who was famous for divining, balancing power, and dispelling evil spirits according to ancient Japanese beliefs.
As soon as we walk into the shrine, we notice several Pentagram symbols, either at the torii gate, lamps, or amulets. This star is called Seimei Kikyo, which is believed to symbolize the protection and balance of the five elements.
The atmosphere of this place is relatively calm and not as busy as the famous shrines in Kyoto, allowing a leisurely walk around. Another interesting point is the Seimei Well, which is believed to be sacred water with the power to cleanse bad things.
And another highlight of this shrine that can't be missed...The amulets, goshuins and siamsi, in addition to being sacred, are beautifully designed and very unique! So beautiful that the collection line must definitely fall in love. 💖
Although the shrine is not very large, it is full of Japanese historical and legendary stories. If anyone is interested in Myoji or would like to visit a quiet shrine in Kyoto, this is another very recommended coordinate.
🕰️ Opening and closing hours: 09: 00 to 4: 30 p.m.
