🌲 Kurama Mysterious Hiking Trail - > Kifune Easy 2 Kilometers Walk Both Natural and Mu Line!
Escape the chaos of Kyoto and take a pilgrimage to the mysterious forest! Today we will take everyone on foot across the hill from Kurama-dera Temple to Kifune-jinja Shrine, the Mu Hiking Trail on the Natural Line. 🌲✨
Many people may not know that we can walk between the Kurama Temple and the Kifune Shrine, a good distance of about 1.5 to 2 kilometers. It only takes more than two hours to chill and soak up nature. The whole path is very pleasant, surrounded by ancient cedars (Sugi), high trunks, and certainly hundreds of years old. The atmosphere is magical. It is as quiet as it slips into the other world.
✨ Highlights on the way not to be missed:
1️⃣ Kinone-michi () Wood Root Passage The wonderful check-in point where the roots of the cedar appear to weave on the ground so dense that it becomes a passageway, because the rock layer beneath is so hard that the Chonchai roots cannot go down, becoming a very quaint image of natural art.
2️⃣ Sugi-Gongen-sha () The shrine of the "sacred giant pine" was built to worship the lion of the deity (Shintai), which is a thousand-year-old old cedar. Unfortunately, the original giant pine has perennial, died and fallen due to a severe typhoon in 1998, but the stumps and remains of the giant pine are still preserved and worshipped to the present day as sacred.
3️⃣ Kurama Temple Okunoin Ma'oden () is a sacred spot hidden in the middle of the forest on Mount Kurama. Before reaching the descent to Kifune, the atmosphere is quiet and surrounded by large trees. It is a place of worship. "Ma'o Son ()," one of the three Sonten gods of the Kurama Temple, is believed to symbolize the power of change and evolution of the universe. According to the belief of Kurama Temple, this is the place where Ma'o Son came down from Venus about 6.5 million years ago to bring the power of change to the world.
