Kifune Shrine (Kifune Shrine) is an old shrine with a history of more than 1,300 years and a shrine of importance in the water gods of Japan, located in the middle of the Kifune Valley surrounded by forests and natural streams.

• Shrine of the Water God 💧: This is the place of worship Takaokami no Kami (), the God of Water and Rain according to the Shinto faith. In the past, Japanese emperors used to send representatives to pray for rain or ask for rain to stop at this shrine, making Kifune regarded as one of Japan's most important watercourse shrines.
• Red Lantern Staircase in the middle of the valley 🏮: One of Kifune Shrine's memories is the stone staircase walkway lined with red lanterns along both sides of the way, which is a popular photo corner of this shrine. Whichever season comes, it's beautiful. Green leaves, colored leaves, or snow-covered winters.
• Water Omikuji 🔮: The most popular activity that anyone has arrived must try! Just take the paper to float on the surface of the water. The prophecy will gradually appear. It is a strange and impressive experience.

For us, the reason for wanting to come here is not love at all, but because of our liking for the mythology of the gods of the water and the feeling that shrines with stories are not often found in Japan.
The journey was between winter and spring, and most of the trees were not fully leaved, but the atmosphere was so beautiful, so calm, quiet, and charming that we couldn't help thinking that if it was autumn or snow, it would be beautiful.
I whispered that if anyone comes during the day, there will be many famous restaurants around the shrine, especially those located along the unique stream of Kifune. But the day we got there was quite cold, so we didn't have a chance to visit. 🥹

• Eizan Railway: Get off Kibuneguchi Station, then ride the bus for about 5 minutes or walk up to the shrine for 25-30 minutes.
• Another popular route is hiking from Kurama-dera Temple through the mountain route and ending at Kifune Shrine.
