CHICHEN ITZA

Here are some pics from actually being at chichen itza. As you can tell we got really lucky in that it was really cloudy. The last 20 ish mins of our 3 hours were sunny and I got a migraine.

Here are some tips for if you go:

Take water!!! Stay hydrated

Take a hat to guard you from the sun

Dress light

Take sunscreen if you burn

Get a nice cold drink when you leave

Don’t fall for the vendor tricks. Show interest in something you don’t want then “settle” for what you actually want. Their most popular trick is showing you a scar as “proof” that their factory made stuff is homemade. Otherwise they’ll overcharge you even by US standards

If you end up going have fun :)

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it attracts millions of visitors each year. To enhance your experience, plan your visit during the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and large crowds. Ensure you stay hydrated—carry plenty of water, especially in warmer months. A wide-brimmed hat and lightweight clothing can help keep you comfortable under the sun. Don't forget to apply sunscreen! While exploring, take the opportunity to marvel at the Pyramid of Kukulcan, the Great Ball Court, and other stunning structures that reflect the Mayan civilization's incredible architectural skills. Be cautious of local vendors; it's advisable to engage with them sparingly to avoid being overcharged and falling for common sales tactics. Instead, explore local shops for authentic handicrafts and souvenirs. Lastly, enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the local cafes after your visit to rejuvenate after a day of exploration. Chichen Itza is not just a site; it’s an experience that connects visitors with a rich history and vibrant culture. Embrace it fully!
