rating all the MATCHA I had in Bangkok
I really love matcha and I kept seeing people raving about the matcha they had in BKK so I knew I had to try as many cups as possible!! I am genuinely so blown away by the matcha game in BKK and I’m defo gg back to try even more places
Peace Oriental Teahouse - 5 /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:
I stumbled upon this place because it was near a pilates studio that I went to and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. In fact, I think this was the best matcha I had on my trip. They had different firing levels, ranging from low firing (fresh tone & high umami) to high hiring (roasted tone & high creaminess). I chose the high firing matcha latte and it was indeed GAO.
MATCHAMARU - 4 /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:
I had to get a cup of matcha here because it was at the start of Songwat Road. They had many different types of matcha, and I went with the one their staff recommended, Akane. It was really a solid cup of matcha, but not only did the taste shock me, but also the price of it HAHA. This was the most expensive cup of matcha I came across in Bangkok, with the matcha lattes starting at THB230 (if I remember correctly), and hence the -1 in rating.
MTCH - 4.5 /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:
This place was highly raved on TikTok and I get the hype. They also had different types of matcha you could choose from, so I went with Yame Saemidori matcha with oat milk. Defo will come back again.
Mini Oriental Speedbar - 4 /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:
I was really craving a matcha so I decided to grabfood one from Mini Oriental Speedbar and I was pleasantly surprised that it only costs THB75 for a matcha latte and THB20 for the cloud foam. If I add in delivery, it was THB117 only!! And the flavour did not disappoint. They separated the ice, matcha, and foam as seen in the pic and made me DIY my own drink so that it won’t be diluted HAHAHA And the matcha taste was rly gao as well which I like.
7/11 All Select Cafe - 2 /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:
I had very low expectations for this but I wanted to try it because the other 7/11 food items were pretty tasty (ham triple cheese sandwich <3). I saw the staff whisking the matcha and the colour of the drink looked really promising to me (it’s so green in the pic!) but when I tried it all I tasted was the milk :(
