Ranking My Brown Lip Liners
I’m obsessed with these liners and am always reaching for them!!
1. Makeup forever: Limitless brown
Ultimately my favorite lip liner. It has red undertone and more of a warm brown. I’d def recommend..
⭐️ 100000/10
2. Morphe: Trendsetter
Another great lip liner!! This lip liner is more of a true brown with a hint of warm. It works amazing with all shades.
⭐️ 10/10
3. Makeup by Mario: Jeff
I always forget I have this lip liner tbh 😂. Like it’s great and I love the double ended side with the lip liner and brush to blend. I need to remember this more often. The brown is more harsh and deep hence the brush for blending. But not my favorite shade of brown.
⭐️ 7/10
4. MAC: Chestnut
I feel like I just got this because everyone talks about it but I wish Cork worked on my skin tone the brown is a lot less harsh. This brown is a little too dark cool for me. But it lasts all day!
⭐️ 7/10
5. Anastasia Beverly Hills: Malt
I absolutely love the is liner. I got hip to it recently and have been wondering where it has been my whole life. It’s a warm red brown and so beautiful. I prefer these shades!
⭐️12/10
6. One/Size: Coin Collector
I love this one and always leave it in my favorite purse!! Amazing perfect brown! A great alternative to the makeup forever limitless brown.
⭐️10/10
7. Fenty Beauty: I Woodn’t
I really like this lip liner and the color but I wish she launched pencil sharpeners because they do not sharpen well at all. You need a speciality one or I wish it was automatic. This does not budge at all though!!

Beyond just ranking my favorites, I’ve picked up some amazing tips and tricks over the years for making the most out of brown lip liners. Whether you're hunting for the best brown lip liner for everyday or a specific shade like a warm nude brown lip liner swatch, here’s what I’ve learned to help you find your perfect match and achieve that flawless pout! First off, understanding undertones is a game-changer. If you have warm undertones (think golden or peachy hues in your skin), a brown liner with a hint of red or orange will often look stunning. For cooler undertones (pink or blue), opt for browns with a slight grey or purple tint. Neutral undertones? You’re lucky – most shades will work beautifully! I always recommend doing a quick swatch on your inner arm or fingertip to see how the color truly pulls before committing. This helps avoid disappointment when you're looking for that ideal warm nude lip liner swatch and end up with something too cool or too dark. When it comes to application, technique can make all the difference. I usually start by exfoliating my lips gently and then applying a light lip balm to create a smooth canvas. Then, I carefully outline my lips, staying just inside or on the natural lip line for a subtle enhancement. If I want a fuller look, I might slightly overline the Cupid's bow and the center of the bottom lip. After outlining, I lightly fill in the entire lip with the liner. This creates a base that helps your lipstick or gloss last longer and prevents feathering. For an ombré effect, use a slightly darker brown liner on the edges and blend inwards before applying a lighter lipstick or gloss in the center. Let's talk about some specific favorites that pop up in searches, like Makeup by Mario Jeff. This one is often described as a deeper, more 'harsh' brown. The key with shades like Jeff is blending! Its double-ended design with a brush is fantastic for this. Don’t be afraid to really work that product into your lip to soften the lines and create a seamless transition, especially if you’re pairing it with a lighter lip color. It can create such a striking contrast. Another gem that frequently comes up is the One/Size Coin Collector lip liner. I absolutely adore this one because it's such a versatile, perfect brown. It leans slightly warm but isn't overly red, making it a fantastic 'true brown' for many skin tones. It glides on smoothly and has excellent staying power, which is exactly what you want in a good everyday liner. If you're looking for a dependable, universally flattering brown, Coin Collector is definitely one to try. Finally, don't forget about the practicalities. A good brown lip liner should be pigmented, creamy enough to apply without tugging, and long-lasting. Sharpening can be an unexpected hurdle – as I found with Fenty Beauty's I Woodn't. Always make sure you have a quality sharpener on hand for pencil liners to prevent waste and ensure a precise tip. Ultimately, the best brown lip liner for you is one that makes you feel confident and beautiful, so have fun experimenting!
