Replying to @w4n_mxff FOCUS ON THE HOT FRENCH DOCTORRR🥵😫🇫🇷🙏🏻 #americaninparis #paris #france #cultureshock #expat
You know, living in Paris, you learn something new every day, often in the most unexpected ways! I recently had a hilarious moment of realization, and honestly, it felt like a classic expat blunder. Like many, I totally assumed Comme des Garçons was a French brand. I mean, the name itself is a French term – "like boys" – and they’re always a big deal at Paris Fashion Week! But nope, total mistake on my part! It’s actually a groundbreaking Japanese brand founded by the incredible Rei Kawakubo. They might be based in Paris for some operations and show there, but their roots are firmly Japanese. It just goes to show how easy it is to get things mixed up when you’re navigating a new culture, even with something as seemingly obvious as a brand name. It’s part of the charming culture shock you experience as an American in Paris. This little fashion revelation got me thinking about how much we perceive things based on superficial cues. Parisian style isn't just about what you wear; it's about an attitude, a certain je ne sais quoi. And speaking of chic, my doctor definitely had that incredible sense of style, even in his work attire – which, by the way, was the real point of my original story with his "insane shirt"! Sometimes, the most memorable parts of expat life are these small, funny cultural adjustments and the unexpected moments, like realizing your stylish doctor's shirt is from a brand whose origin you completely misunderstood. It's all part of the fun adventure!
