brunch at sugar and scribe in La Jolla, CA🫐🥞☕️✨
we had the most amazing brunch at Sugar and Scribe in La Jolla, CA!
I got the blueberry lemon curd pancakes which were some of the BEST pancakes l've ever had, although I wish I'd opted out of the edible glitter which tasted like sand to me. otherwise they were a 10/10.
the coffees had great flavor but they were a bit too milky for my taste. I would get a hot coffee next time because the milk to coffee ratio would probably be more reasonable.
overall I loved my meal here and would definitely come back!! highly recommend! make sure to get here early because they get busy on Fridays and weekends.

My recent brunch experience at Sugar and Scribe in La Jolla, CA, was absolutely delightful, and I'm thrilled to share even more details beyond my initial thoughts! While my blueberry lemon curd pancakes were a divine discovery – truly some of the best I’ve ever tasted, even with a minor glitter mishap – there’s so much more to explore at this charming spot. For those who prefer a savory start to their day, I heard wonderful things about their CRABBY ROYALE BENEDICT. It sounds like a fantastic alternative, offering a rich and satisfying option that goes beyond the sweet breakfast fare. It’s great to know they cater to all kinds of cravings, making it a versatile choice for any group looking for brunch in La Jolla. And let's talk about the drinks! My iced coffee was flavorful, but I definitely noted it was a bit milky. Next time, I'm opting for a hot coffee to get that perfect coffee-to-milk balance. But beyond the standard coffee, their menu boasts some truly unique creations. The cinnamon roll & blue coconut latte caught my eye – it sounds like a wonderfully indulgent treat that pairs perfectly with a relaxed brunch. It’s clear they put a lot of creativity into their beverage offerings. Beyond the delicious food and drinks, the atmosphere at Sugar and Scribe is simply enchanting. The outdoor seating was so nice, offering a lovely spot to soak up the beautiful La Jolla weather while enjoying your meal. Inside, the place is brimming with personality. There are lots of fun stuff inside! It’s not just a restaurant; it’s also a vibrant bakery and a charming little shop. I spotted so many unique items that would be great for gifts, from adorable kitchenware to local artisan products. It really adds to the overall experience, making it more than just a meal out. Now, for a crucial tip, especially if you’re keen on experiencing their famed bakery: come early if you want bakery items! they were cleaned out by 11:30. This is incredibly important to remember. Their fresh-baked goods, like the cinnamon rolls and pastries, are incredibly popular and sell out fast. If you have your heart set on grabbing something from the sugar and scribe bakery, make sure to arrive closer to opening hours. This advice is critical for anyone searching for sugar and scribe hours or hoping to snag a specific treat. Overall, Sugar and Scribe truly earns its reputation as one of the best brunch spots in La Jolla. The combination of incredible food, unique drinks, charming ambiance, and the added bonus of their fantastic bakery makes it a standout. My biggest recommendation remains: get there early! Especially on Fridays and weekends, it gets incredibly busy, but the wait is absolutely worth it for the delicious food and delightful experience. It's a place I'd happily return to again and again.
