Itinerary updated! Sokcho is a beautiful coastal city in South Korea and it has so many amazing things to eat and do. Here’s everything we did in Sokcho :) #sokcho #roadtrip #korea
If you're planning a trip to South Korea and looking beyond Seoul, let me tell you why Sokcho should be at the top of your list! This beautiful coastal city is a true gem, offering a fantastic mix of natural beauty, delicious food, and unique cultural experiences, making it perfect for a memorable road trip. Sokcho truly has everything you could want in a coastal getaway. You absolutely have to visit Seoraksan National Park. The views are breathtaking, especially during autumn, and there are hikes for all levels. For a more relaxed vibe, Sokcho Beach is perfect for a stroll or just enjoying the sea breeze. Don't forget to explore Abai Village – it's full of history and unique charm, and you can even take a fun manual ferry across! And oh, the food! Sokcho is a seafood lover's paradise. My absolute must-try is 생선구이 (grilled fish). There are so many fantastic restaurants specializing in freshly caught fish, often sizzled in a griddle right at your table. It's an experience you can't miss. While you're at Abai Village, you have to try Abai Soondae, a unique type of blood sausage that's a local specialty. I also loved digging into a warm bowl of kalguksu (hand-cut noodles) – perfect for a cool evening. The marketplace is the best place to sample all these delicious treats and soak in the local atmosphere. I even found a great spot called 속초 전원식당 that truly served up some authentic flavors, a real highlight of my culinary journey. And for a sweet treat or a coffee break, ACORN.SOKCHO was an adorable shop with delicious cream pastries! It's not just about the quantities of things to do, but the quality of each experience. From beautiful scenery to specialties you won't find elsewhere, it's a city that leaves a lasting impression. Whether you're on a roadtrip or just visiting for a few days, Sokcho is very much worth visiting. It felt like stepping into a part of Korea that balances tradition with modern charm, making new memories while also feeling a bit nostalgic, perhaps bringing back a sense of childhood wonder. Trust me, you won't deny yourself an amazing time here!
