One of my most popular recipes: “Bulgogi” Ground Beef 🍯
Add it to a bowl of rice with veggies, make bulgogi tacos, add to quesadillas, salads, fried rice, you name it. Basically use it like a Korean seasoning packed with protein. Enjoy! Here’s the ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 tsp baking powder
2 chopped scallion
1 tsp garlic
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1.5 Tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp gochugaru
1 Tbsp sesame oil
1 Tbsp honey
1) mix the ground beef with baking powder, set aside
2) stir fry the scallions and garlic until fragrant
3) add the ground beef, and all the seasonings
4) cook until beautifully brown 🤎
The spicy version:
Same instructions with
1 tsp garlic
2 Tbsp gochujang
1 Tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp gochugaru
1 Tbsp sesame oil
1 Tbsp honey
If you have leftover bulgogi ground beef from this recipe, don’t let it go to waste! It makes a fantastic ingredient for reinventing your meals the next day. For example, you can add it to fried rice along with chopped veggies and scrambled eggs to create a quick and flavorful dish. Another tasty idea is to use these leftovers as a filling for quesadillas or bulgogi tacos—just warm the meat and top with cheese or fresh toppings like lettuce and salsa for an easy fusion meal. The combination of ingredients like gochugaru (Korean red chili flakes), soy sauce, oyster sauce, and honey gives bulgogi its signature savory-sweet flavor profile. If you prefer a spicier kick, incorporating gochujang (fermented chili paste) as shown in the spicy version enhances both depth and heat in the dish. Sesame oil adds a subtle nutty aroma that complements the beef beautifully. For those interested in meal prep or boosting protein intake, this ground beef bulgogi is ideal. You can prepare it in bulk, refrigerate or freeze portions, and then have a nutritious Korean-inspired protein base ready to elevate everyday meals. Plus, scallions and garlic bring freshness and fragrant notes that help balance the richness of the meat. Experimenting with bulgogi ground beef beyond traditional bowls or tacos can be fun — try mixing it into noodles, stuffing it inside steamed buns, or even topping baked potatoes. This adaptability makes bulgogi a versatile seasoning style you can explore creatively in your kitchen. Remember, the key to perfectly cooking this dish is cooking the beef until it’s nicely browned and full of flavor from the combined seasonings. Taking the time to stir fry scallions and garlic first releases those inviting aromas that make bulgogi such a beloved Korean comfort food. Enjoy making this recipe your own and discover the many delicious ways to serve bulgogi ground beef as part of your meals!
