Fall in Jeju Island 🏝️
Rich because I was alive to live this week
Jeju Island in autumn is truly a dream, and my recent trip felt so rich because I was alive to soak in every moment this week! If you’re planning a fall escape, you absolutely have to consider Jeju. It’s not just about the vibrant fall foliage; there’s a unique charm that comes alive, especially with the iconic pink muhly grass fields and the abundance of fresh citrus fruits. One of the absolute highlights for me was wandering through those dreamy pink muhly grass fields. Imagine standing in a sea of soft, fluffy pink, with the clear blue sky above and the distant mountains as a backdrop. It’s even more stunning than photos suggest! I found a few spots where you could just lose yourself, just like in the pictures with people taking photos in vast fields. It’s the perfect place for those Instagram-worthy shots, and witnessing the sheer scale of it was just breathtaking. You'll definitely want to spend some time just sitting there, enjoying the serene beauty. Beyond the muhly, the island transforms into a haven for tangerine lovers. I saw so many orchards filled with trees laden with yellow-green citrus fruits. The experience of picking fresh tangerines—or simply enjoying the local juice and snacks made from them—is quintessential Jeju in autumn. The sweet and tangy flavors are simply irresistible, and it’s wonderful to see the local markets bustling with these seasonal delights. My journey also led me to discover the island's charming cultural side. I loved seeing the traditional stone buildings with their distinctive blue doors and yellow-framed windows. And of course, no trip to Jeju is complete without encountering the friendly Dol Hareubang stone statues. They’re everywhere, and posing with them, especially against a backdrop of pink muhly grass or a scenic landscape, was so much fun! I even spotted some adorable Dol Hareubang plush keychains, along with cute orange-shaped ones, which make for perfect souvenirs. I also spent some blissful afternoons in cozy, rustic cafes. These spots, often with exposed wooden beams and traditional decor, offer the perfect ambiance to relax and enjoy local treats. I encountered some lovely elderly locals enjoying their meals, and it truly added to the warm, welcoming atmosphere. I tried some delicious local food, including what looked like fresh inari sushi, sliced fruit, and pickled radish, which was incredibly satisfying after a day of exploring. The unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and delicious local fare makes Jeju Island autumn an experience I'll never forget. It’s a wonderful place to feel truly alive and connected with nature and culture.
