Arrived at my post breakup Amsterdam era 🚲🍃🌷
Spending a month in Amsterdam after a breakup has been a transformative experience for me. The city, with its iconic canals and vibrant spring blooms, is the perfect backdrop for healing both mind and body. I made it a point to bike everywhere, which not only helped me stay physically active but also allowed me to soak in the sun and the beautiful scenery at my own pace. Biking in Amsterdam feels so natural and freeing, especially when paired with the uplifting energy of spring. I also committed to daily Pilates sessions, making it my physical therapy and emotional release. The routine challenged me but was incredibly rewarding, helping me reconnect with my body and improve my overall well-being. Combining exercise with nutritious homemade meals, including my ongoing obsession with pannenkoeken (Dutch pancakes), created a comforting routine that grounded me. Food exploration became another avenue of joy. Trying out new recipes like banchan, inspired by Korean cuisine, gave me a creative outlet and a way to celebrate my healing journey through cooking. This blend of Dutch and international cuisine made my stay even richer. Exploring local shops and markets, such as the quaint @HELLOITSPANSY store, was a delightful distraction that brought small pleasures—adorable knick-knacks and unique finds—that helped lift my spirits. Reflecting on my decade-long dream to live in Amsterdam, this month marked a significant milestone. It was not only about recovering from a breakup but also about unfolding and embracing dreams that once felt distant. This experience shows how travel and self-care combined can catalyze personal growth, turning hardship into opportunity for renewal and joy.
